Some trips are about relaxation. Others are about discovery. A cruise through Alaska with Princess Cruises manages to deliver both—effortlessly.

From the moment we boarded, there was a sense that this wasn’t going to be a typical cruise. The energy was different. Less about nightlife and more about nature. Less about rushing—and more about watching.

Our stateroom quickly became a sanctuary. We opted for a balcony, and it was absolutely worth it. Waking up to glaciers in the distance, stepping outside with a cup of coffee, and breathing in that crisp Alaskan air is something you don’t forget. The room itself was comfortable and well-designed, with plenty of storage, a surprisingly spacious bathroom, and a bed that made it easy to recharge after long days exploring.

But the real star of this trip isn’t the ship—it’s Alaska.

Every day felt like stepping into a documentary. Sailing through Glacier Bay National Park was easily one of the most unforgettable moments. The ship slowed to a near standstill as we approached massive blue glaciers, their surfaces cracking and shifting, occasionally sending chunks of ice crashing into the water below. It’s one thing to see it in photos—it’s something entirely different to feel it.

Ports of call added a whole new dimension to the journey. In Juneau, we explored the stunning Mendenhall Glacier and even spotted wildlife along the trails. Skagway brought a step back in time with its Gold Rush history, and the scenic White Pass Railway was a highlight. Then there was Ketchikan, where colorful buildings lined the waterfront and local culture came alive through totem poles and artisan shops.

Back on board, the experience was just as impressive.

Dining offered a wide range of options, from casual buffet-style meals to elegant dining rooms with multi-course menus. Fresh seafood was a standout—Alaskan salmon, crab, and halibut prepared in ways that highlighted the region. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and there was always something new to try.

What surprised me most was how the ship adapted to the destination. Naturalists came on board to provide insight into the landscapes and wildlife we were seeing. Announcements would call everyone to the deck when whales were spotted. There was a shared sense of excitement, like everyone on board was part of the same experience.

Even the downtime felt meaningful. Sitting in one of the lounges, watching mountains drift by through massive windows, or standing on deck as the sun lingered late into the evening—it all added to the feeling that you were somewhere truly unique.

If you’re looking for a trip that blends comfort with raw, unforgettable beauty, an Alaskan cruise with Princess is something special. It’s not just about the destinations—it’s about standing still long enough to truly see them.
